Lauren from Stone House Creative shares the inspiration and thoughts behind this editorial: “Winter takes up a large part of the year where we live, but most couples are still afraid to have a winter wedding. We want to encourage couples that with a winter event, they don’t have to go with the dreaded Christmas theme and can still achieve a feminine aesthetic.
A winter wedding often requires a room flip, so we chose to use the gorgeous stone fireplace as both the backdrop for the ceremony, and then with a few small tweaks, as the backdrop for the head table as well.
Asymmetrically placed focal floral pieces and a few candles are all that’s needed to draw the eye in, and we kept the florals in a delicate palette of pastels pinks and lilacs with fresh greens. Gold and bronze accents add warmth and depth to the winter palette.
With the really feminine, light palette and the very white interior walls, we craved something a bit richer to ground the overall design and bring back the warmth to the winter setting. We chose a textured metallic linen in a rich copper, which formed a really nice contrast to the girly flowers. We also decided to add in gold accents, through the modern flatware and gold-rimmed glassware and candle holders on the guest table.
I always think that a place setting needs to be beautiful! We kept this one simple but elegant, with a hint of texture to add warmth. That came in the shape of a knotted linen napkin, offset with calligraphed place cards at each guest’s place setting.
The room has mixed height ceilings, and sometimes that can be a challenge to design with, so my intention with the centerpiece was to keep everything low and feel like it was spilling over. I decided not to use a traditional centerpiece vessel, instead arranging the flowers so that it looked like it was just growing there. Cut glass stem vases with individual blooms were added to the ends of the table, along with candles, to extend the design out.”
